Too funny! We have a Jack Russell as well, however, he is brown and white.

I guess my only other question would be are you sure it's Oldhamii?

Our little JR is great. hes about 6 years old and has been a great dog.
Not completely sure. It was sold as a Bambusa oldhamii but I know bamboo is frequently mislabeled. I think my wife got it at Florida Bamboo in Gainesville.

Our Joey is 9 years old, and though calmed down quite a bit, he's still a door dasher.

I'd almost be tempted to purchase another Oldhamii and put it in the ground next to it for comparison. If I had a propagation of one I'd send it to you just to satisfy my curiosity.

I noticed that my Hirose bamboo is shooting today! I originally planted it in a relatively shady spot, but had since relocated it where it gets more sun from about noon on. These are the first shoots of the year for this bamboo.
